We’ve wanted to make this wheel forever, but have never been 100% confident there’s sufficient demand from the E30 BMW market. We’re still not, to be honest, but we’re only going to make 300 wheels, so the risk isn’t huge.
The Bottlecap is probably the most well-known E30 OEM wheel design, but it was only available in a 14x6. Today, that small, multi-spoke design looks bland at best. But add 2" of diameter and width, along with an aggressive rim lip, and that same bland design becomes aggressive with a very motorsport vibe.
For this new 16x8 RML design, we’re using flow-form construction method: this technique allows for a very light (approximately 15-lb), and very strong wheel, while also giving us flexibility to add different widths without having to create a new mold. We’ve even made sure that OEM BMW center caps will fit*
