Teardrop 16" PRE-ORDER

For 2025 we've got another iconic VW wheel design getting the RML treatment.

For anyone who remembers (and got so excited for) the US-releases of the 16v-engine Volkswagen Scirocco and Mk2 GTI, the 14x6 Teardrop wheel design is most likely near and dear to your heart.

As part of the RML Philosophy, we've taken the original 14x6 design and made it bigger (16"), wider (7' or 8"), stronger, and lighter (approximately 17-lb). Additionally, we've also chosen to make the wheel design truly directional - two wheels for the right side of the vehicle, and two different ones for the left side. This approach required us to create two separate molds, but we felt this was worth the extra expense.

As with our other wheels, these two new molds will be used in combination with flow-form casting technology. Flow-formed wheels are lighter and stronger than traditionally-casted wheels, and it also allows us to offer different widths from the same mold(s). As such, we're offering the new RML Teardrop in 16x7 ET35 and 16x8 ET35 options.

A matching machined aluminum lug cap covers a lug center with either 4x100 and 4x108 lug patterns, or 5x100 and 5x112 patterns (the 16x7 wheel is 4-lug only). We're not usually a fan of dual-drilled wheels, but when there's a cool cap to cover the whole detail, why not offer Audi (and some odd VW) owners a chance to run these wheels, too - right?

The wheels will have an OEM-style machined face with matching lug cap, polished lips, and charcoal grey teardrop inserts.

To order a proper set, make sure you order two right wheels and two left wheels.

This is a pre-order for the 16" Teardrop wheels. Please refer to the FAQ excerpt below.

Q: Why should I pre-order?

A: Short answer: To receive a $40/wheel discount and make sure you'll get a set. Once the wheels arrive, the pre-order will end and the discount offer will end as well.

Longer answer: We will order a limited number of these wheels (500) for the entire world. We are not sure when (or even if) we will order more, but more than likely it would not be any time soon. The RML business model is designed not to sit on inventory, but to use our (very) limited capital to create new designs: in other words, our pre-orders could well be your only chance to purchase a set.

Q: Can I order a staggered set?

A: Sure, but in 4-lug only (no 5-lug option for 16x7). Just make sure you order a right and left for each size. And keep in mind, even with a 1" difference in width, the faces (and lips) of each wheel size is identical.

Q: Is there a shipping fee?

A: For US and Canadian pre-order customers, shipping is free, but once the wheels arrive this offer is void. For International orders, please see below.

Q: Do you accept international orders?

A: Yes. But keep in mind that due to fluctuating costs, your shipping fee cannot be calculated until the wheels arrive at our location. Also, you are independently responsible for any fees or duties assessed by your government.

Q: When are the wheels due to arrive at your location?

A:  As of 10/15/2024 the 16" Teardrops are due to arrive by April of 2025 (delays are possible and we will make updates in the blog section of this website to the ETA as we go). 

Q: Is my pre-order purchase refundable?

A: Yes, and at any time, and for any reason, up until the point the wheels arrive at our warehouse. However, because Shopify does *not* refund merchant fees on refunded orders, we are forced to add a 3.5% processing fee for any canceled/refunded orders.

 Q: Will I receive updates on my order status/ETA for the wheels?

A: Not individual updates: we will post updates as we receive them on our @rmlsnowflakes Instagram page, as well as here under the website blog section.
